Brian Weiss

Brian Weiss (New York, November 6, 1944) is an American physician and psychiatrist, known for his research on: reincarnation, past life regression, progression into future lives, and the survival of the human soul after death.

Life

Graduated with honors from Columbia (New York) and Yale Universities, he worked as a professor at the University of Miami. He was chief of the psychiatry department at Mount Sinai Medical Center (Miami Beach).
In 2002 he was a psychiatrist at Bellevue University (New York) and was serving as director of the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Regression therapy

During his psychiatric practice, he researched and developed methodologies to work on past life regression.
She has performed this regression experience on over four thousand patients at her office in Miami, Florida.
Remembering traumatic situations from the past helps to heal traumas, this technique is very similar to psychoanalysis. The existence of past lives can be validated, by cases that show characteristics such as: that people speak foreign languages that they never learned or heard xenoglossy; that they found in this life the children they had in a previous life and those children confirm the experiences. Other cases, verifiable in practice, is when during the regression they mention specific data or details (places, dates, names) of which they knew nothing, which can later be found in reality.

He is the author of several works related to love and the belief in reincarnation, the latter addressed through experiences narrated by his patients in a state of psychiatric hypnosis, witnessing the birth of past life regression therapy.

His theses have generated controversy in the scientific community. His detractors -mainly other doctors such as Steven Novella and David Gorski, or skeptics of the category of James Randy- have criticized his beliefs for moving away from academia.

Brian Weiss is a regular guest on nationwide shows like Oprah, Coast to Coast AM, Larry King Live, and 20/20. He develops workshops at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in New York.
