Björk is a 192-page book published by Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk Guðmundsdóttir that was released in August 2001 to coincide with her album Vespertine. .
For this reason, the book was designed by a famous French graphic design firm called M/M Paris.
Björk is a photographic representation of the making of a cultural icon, documenting her personal journey to stardom. The book does not follow a chronological plot and is accompanied by photographs specially chosen to illustrate the creative process.
The book is divided into three sections:
- Photography: Björk photographs taken by Nick Knight, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Araki, Chris Cunningham, Juergen Teller and Craig McDean, among others.
- Words: fragments of texts and an interview conducted by Björk with his hero of inspiration: David Attenborough.
- Contributions ('Four Pages for Björk'): a section in which each of the collaborators during the race of Björk. The contributors are: Araki, Anton Corbijn, Chris Cunningham, Nick Knight, Glen Luchford, Craig McDean, Juergen Teller, Sir David Attenborough, Rick Poynor, Philippe Parreno, Won Tchoi, Hussein Chalayan, Michel Gondry, Rei Kawakubo, Graham Massey, Jean Baptiste Mondino, Jeremy Scott, Sjón and Stephane.
