Billy Bathgate
Billy Bathgate is a 1991 film directed by Robert Benton and starring Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman, Loren Dean and Bruce Willis. It is based on the book of the same title written by E. L. Doctorow.
Plot
The film is inspired by the crime syndicates of the '20s and '30s. Billy Bathgate (Loren Dean) is a young man who out of nowhere becomes the right hand of Dutch Schultz (Dustin Hoffman), a powerful gangster. Schultz was impressed by the young man, making him his protégé. Bathgate will realize that in this world in which he lives, wealth and power go hand in hand with danger and death.

Production
Billy Bathgate was filmed in Hamlet, North Carolina, and Saratoga Springs, New York. Filming began in 1990 and concluded in February 1991 in the city of Fayetteville.
