Bibiana Manuela Fernández Chica (Tangier, February 13, 1954), formerly known artistically as Bibi Ándersen and later as Bibiana Fernández, is a film and theater actress, singer, television presenter, model and Spanish talk show host.

Biography

He was born in Tangier (International Zone of Tangier) although at the age of twelve he moved to live in Malaga. She is the daughter of Malagasy; Manuel, who was a taxi driver, and Francisca, who worked as a seamstress in the Victoria neighborhood. Bibiana Fernández Chica was a man at birth, although she called herself a woman from a very young age and came using the female nickname "Bibi Ándersen" since she began her professional career.

Her parents separated when she was only six years old, this led her to live endless fights and arguments around her. She lived her first years in Malaga. In 1961, she began her physical transition and underwent hormone treatment with estrogens.[citation needed] In 1991, in London, she underwent a vaginoplasty and later, in 1994, legally changed his name.

He started making cameos in Palma de Mallorca, then he sold books, worked at the dock in Malaga and a host of other things. He left Malaga for Barcelona with the purpose of seeing his dream of being an artist come true. Her beginnings were hard, but with effort and little by little, in the mid-1970s she became the main star of Cadena Ferrer, which managed various stores in Barcelona. It was then that she made her film debut at the hands of Vicente Aranda in the film Cambio de sexo , where she would have a very young Victoria Abril as a co-star. The success of Aranda's film made her a popular character who quickly jumped into Spanish homes through television.

In 1980 she released an album, named after her, Bibi Andersen. She gets great success with the songs "Call me lady Champagne" and "Save me". She participates in different television programs and performs in theaters continuing her work as a magazine star.

In the early eighties, once in Madrid, he worked on Trailer for Lovers of the Forbidden by Pedro Almodóvar, a friend with whom he will continue to collaborate on much of his filmography —Matador, The Law of Desire, High Heels and Kika—. In 1984 he starred in the film by Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, The most beautiful night , along with Victoria Abril, José Sacristán and Fernando Fernán Gómez. In 1985 she participated in Fernando Trueba's comedy, Be unfaithful and don't look with whom , alongside Ana Belén, Carmen Maura and Antonio Resines.

After making her debut as a presenter on the show La tarde, Pilar Miró proposed her as Carlos Herrera's partner in the presentation of the music and variety show Saturday night (1988 -1989). The good chemistry that arose between the couple and the naturalness of both made the program a success.

At the end of the eighties and beginning of the nineties, she combined her work as a television presenter with her interventions in the cinema. Other programs he hosted were Stress (1991), Hip Hip Hipnosis, Thank you very much and Mint and Chocolate (2003), as well as an episode of the series Las chicas de hoy en días, various galas and end-of-year specials.

Other film titles in his career are Rowing the Wind directed by Gonzalo Suárez, Mutant Action by Álex de la Iglesia, More than love, frenzy by the trio of filmmakers Menkes, Bardem and Alfonso Albacete, and Atómica (Don't talk to me about men who make me atomic) by Menkes and Albacete.

In 1998 ―coinciding with the premiere of Atómica― she decided to change her stage name to her real one, going by the name Bibiana Fernández instead of Bibí Ándersen, as she was known until then. In 2000, she married a Cuban model, Asdrúbal Ametller González, through the Thai rite, from whom she separated in 2003.

In 2005 she began collaborating on the program Channel no. 4 on channel Cuatro, as well as collaborating on the sports radio program Radioestadio broadcast on Onda Cero.

In 2014, she participated in the reality show Survivors: Lost in Honduras, where after 28 days competing she became the 5th expelled from the edition. After being expelled from the reality show, Bibiana returns to the cinema again at the hands of Alfonso Albacete with the film Solo química, which was released in the summer of 2015. In this film, she shares the bill with Rossy de Palma and José Crowned, among others. In turn, in 2014 she was a guest on Talk to them , a program that was broadcast late night on Telecinco.

Since 2008 she has worked as a collaborator in the television space El programa de Ana Rosa on Telecinco and since 2018 on the radio Por fin no es lunes.

In 2014 her signing as a collaborator for Gran Hermano el debate was announced. Bibiana appears in an episode of the eighth season of La que se avecina. In 2017 she competes in the program Masterchef Celebrity in which she was expelled after the seventh week.

Since 2018, he has also collaborated on the radio program Por fin no es lunes on Onda Cero, hosted by Jaime Cantizano.
