Origin
On July 20, 1990, the Bejuma District was renamed an Autonomous Municipality
Bejuma Capital Parish: like many other towns, Bejuma did not have a founding certificate from the conquerors, who performed a very similar protocol ceremony in all the cities they founded, which on the other hand was more imaginative How real, because they nailed a cross, they traced on the ground the Plaza Mayor, its main buildings and streets, they drew up a record of the event and for the moment that was all. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. It also happened that they were founded more than once.” “In the case of Bejuma, as in some towns, they began by forming a group of families that ended up giving the places where they lived the shape of a town.”
In 1843, the owners of the “Fundo Bejuma” met to donate their lands and found the town of Bejuma, after legal processing, before the Government of the Province, on November 13 it was erected in a Civil Parish, according to the record (on file), but it continued to belong to Montalbán; It was two years later, in 1845, when the notarization document was signed, where we remained in possession and rights over the town; however, we continue to belong to Montalbán as a Parish. It was on July 16, 1859, when the Legislative Assembly of Carabobo elevated it to Canton, separating it from the cantonal tutelage of Montalbán, by the Separatist Decree, according to Attribution 7 of article 128 of the Constitution, signed in July and beginning later its functions as Municipal Council, Canton of Bejuma, in January 1860. Among the founders are: Candelaria Soto, Mauricio García, Lorenzo Orozco, María de La Concepción Román, Carlos and Víctor Coronel, Ezequiel González, Francisco Niño, Carlos Girán, Pedro Vicente Núñez, Pedro F. Coronel, Marcos Coronel, Agustín Miguel Pinto, José Coronel, José F. Ortega and Juana Soto. The Municipal Capital has a tropical climate with an average temperature of 24 °C, located at 667 meters above sea level.
Simón Bolívar Parish: well known as Chirgua, it has been an indigenous population since its inception, an area rich in vegetation, agriculture and archeology. Chirgua, formed by various farms and productive plains, seat of the Indians of the same name before the arrival of the Spanish from El Tocuyo. In the year 1547, by law and custom of the time, it passed to the property of the family of the conquistador Juan de Villegas.“The creation of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Chirgua, of the Ecclesiastical council of Caracas; since 1682 there was a Chapel in Chirgua and it was its Chaplain in those years, Father Diego Tomás de Paradas and then in the middle of the 18th century it was in charge of Pbro. Lorenzo Blanco Herrera, son of Don Mateo Blanco Infante and Doña Isabel Clara de Herrera, second grandparents of the Liberator.” With the passing of time, it became the property of the Liberator Simón Bolívar's family.
After Chirgua had been the inheritance of the Bolívar family and their heirs, it became Colonia Agrícola Modelo in July 1938 during the government of General Eleazar López Contreras, who gave it character as a population, creating public services and building a highway. At that time, 48 Danish families from northeastern Europe settled in the colony; These Danes were repatriated because they did not meet the requirements demanded by the Venezuelan state. During the world wars, Canarian and Cuban immigrants arrived in these lands. It is said that during one of its difficult times, due to the economic recession and illnesses, many faithful prayed before the image of the Virgin of the Miraculous Medal and many of their needs were met. It is for this reason that its inhabitants celebrate on November 27 of each year the festivities in honor of her patron saint, which are full of traditional games, sales of handicrafts, typical food and drinks. It was elevated to Municipality by the Law of Political-Territorial Division of August 4, 1971 directed by the Bejuma District. Today according to another Law, Chirgua becomes a non-urban parish of the Bejuma municipality.
It has a maximum temperature of 28 °C and a minimum of 15.8 °C, with an altitude of 740 m s. no. m., being the highest population in the Municipality and in the Carabobo state.
Canoabo Parish: it is the parish with the largest territorial extension within the Bejuma municipality, occupying 187 km², Canoabo is the place of artisans and creators, known as the "Cordial Corner of Bejuma", being the oldest population in the west of Carabobo and the Bejuma Municipality. Its name is an indigenous word that means "Village next to fresh water." Founded on March 19, 1711 by Father Andrés Páez Vargas, who gave it the name of San José de Canoabo and blessed the first church built with the help of the neighbors. Before there was an oratory or private chapel that the Count of Tovar had there (known as the Casa del Alto). As usual, the town arose around the church according to the custom of the time. The first settlers were there as cacao farmers from the late XVII century; They were: Don Manuel Gómez Pinto, Cristóbal Marcos de La Parra, Domingo de Tovar, the field teacher Juan Ortega and others. They took advantage of the soils that are alluvial sediments and very favorable for planting cocoa, which has been considered the best in the country. Today the cultivation of coffee predominates with the highest production in the Carabobo State. Canoabo is surrounded by high hills and all of them populated with large trees. According to an old theory, Canoabo is at the bottom of a prehistoric lake whose waters broke by the riverbed that goes to the sea. In colonial times it was considered a paradise, many Spaniards took their paths through the mountains that overlook Puerto Cabello, followed from Urama on donkeys and carts, to be surprised by the vision of this valley guided by San José, whose patron saint festivities are celebrated in march.
It was progressive foreigners who settled in Canoabo and we cannot forget those with the surnames Miré, Melet, Miravó, Mateu Pallerón, Mirón and others, as well as a group of Germans who settled in the “La Sabana” farmhouse.. Time goes by; those who preceded us very few exist, but we have advanced, the town is recovered at all levels. Complete education, commerce, development, largely consolidated workforce, uninterrupted collective transportation and good communication routes. Its climate is warm, cooling a bit at night, with an average temperature of 26 °C. At the extreme side of Bejuma (from Valencia) take the road to the right towards Canoabo. When we pass the town of Aguirre we begin the ascent and on the way we observe in the distance the beautiful and picturesque landscape of the Aguirre Valley of the Montalban Municipality. Climbing a little more, we arrive at the Summit of Canoabo.

Symbols of Bejuma Municipality
Shield
Description: The arabesques that border the Shield come together in the center of the upper part, from where a bouquet of oranges, a typical fruit of the region, emerges.
In the left quarter, the petroglyphs found in the surroundings of the city are represented, which were the first communicative expression printed on rocks by our aborigines. These petroglyphs are found in the towns of Tierra Blanca, Chirgua and Canoabo. In the right quarter, the figure of San Rafael Arcángel stands out, patron of the city since 1843, the date on which the first hermitage was founded. Archangel Raphael guards the new basilica of the city, inaugurated by Monsignor Dr. Gregorio Adam in 1956. The lower quarter has as a background the green mountains that surround the city and within this framework of peaceful geography, they emerge as symbols of the traditional regional economy a tobacco plantation, some orange trees and a trapiche. On the right side of the barracks, in the lower part, the flowers that adorn our Shield give us the colorful testimony of the city's motto: "Bejuma Jardín de Carabobo"
The flag
Description: a dominant color, blue, which represents the majesty of our sky, and in the upper left corner, a star, meaning the star that adorns the head of our heavenly "Patron Saint Raphael the Archangel& #3. 4;. It is followed by two different horizontal stripes in proportion and color. The green strip, representing the valleys that surround the region; as well as the grove and foliage that characterize the streets and avenues of the Bejuma municipality. The orange stripe indicates the citrus crops that grow throughout the entire length of these valleys. . Author: Emir Leonardo Cáceres Solá

'Natural Symbols' The Apamate
It is a tree from 15 to 20 and up to 30 m tall, with a short trunk, grayish bark, somewhat fissured. Leaves palmate, compound, 5-elliptic-oblong leaflets, acute to pointed. The terminal leaflet is 8-30 cm long and the laterals progressively smaller. Subleather texture. Terminal panicle of tubular-infundibuliform flowers, lavender pink, sometimes white, 5-10 cm long. The fruit is a linear, cylindrical capsule 2-4 dm long, with a persistent calyx. It reaches 1 meter in diameter normally.
The Mountain Rose The Venezuelan rose is a small tree. It grows slowly and has thick branches. It can reach 6 meters or 20 feet in height. The --- has greyish-brown, and its bark is slightly rough. The stalks of its leaves are hairy. Its leaves are opposite, elongated and from 12 to 18 pairs of oblong or lanceolate leaflets that end in a bristle point. When first developed the fallen leaves are pale green with small pink and cream colored spots, but as they mature they become pinkish-brown and finally a uniform shade of green. The globular inflorescences contain numerous crimson, red flowers.
The hummingbird Hummingbirds are among the smallest birds that exist. The smallest species is the zunzuncito hummingbird or bee elf (Mellisuga helenae), which with its beak and tail measures just about 5.5 centimeters, exclusive to Cuba.3 The largest species, the so-called giant hummingbird (Patagonia gigas), measures about 25 cm. Most hummingbirds have very colorful plumage, usually metallic green. The male's neck is often bright red, blue, or emerald green. A special feature of hummingbirds is the beak, which almost always varies from species to species. The sword-billed hummingbird (Ensifera ensifera), for example, has a bill almost as long as its body, about 10 cm in length.

There the troops camped when there was “ Blood in the village to enter the history”, of our coterranean Helio Rivas and because there in front of the Hermitage the Trujillo brothers, by Commander Modesto Rodríguez according to Antonio Oswaldo Marvez Sosa in “Bejuma, the people of Venezuela. A year after the completion of the process of the erection of Bejuma in Ecclesiastical Parish, there was still another year for the appointment of his first parish priest, who was Father Martin Windevoxhel beginning thus, a list of priests sometimes interrupted by the guerrillas, factitious troops who then disputed power through weapons. The Gral. José Laurencio Silva, was the Chief of Operations in the province of Carabobo, and for the days when the Ecclesiastical Parish of Bejuma was created, the subjection to the government of General José Tadeo Monagas was negotiated. The Church faced problems, because of the shortage of priests and because more parishes were formed every day. By the guerrillas and these problems it was that in the middle of 1850 everything began to normalize and Bejuma had his first cure.
The Fr. Martín Windevoxhel came from Calabozo and only stayed for two years, given the bad times he was having, resigning in 1852. There were again long years without a parish priest in Bejuma, nor were there any in Nirgua, Canoabo, Urama, Taría and Temerla. Two months after Páez took the presidential chair, Fr. Juan Bautista Torres, on August 14, 1861. He didn't last long either and was replaced by Fr. Domingo Felipe Torres, who received the parish on February 28, 1866. Bejuma's boom was due to this priest. He used seven years of the old chapel that served as a base for Catholic worship since 1843 and that was the parish headquarters for 30 years and on August 20, 1872 (he was already 6 years old) as interim priest, he asked the Archbishop for permission to enable it as a church, the house that Don Juan Aniceto Ojeda y Sra. had ceded, located in one of the corners of the Plaza. There began the construction of the 2nd. Bejuma Temple. In 1865, Archbishop Guevara y Lira blessed the first stone of the 2nd. Temple that was in the same place as the current one. Today's beautiful Temple was built starting in 1952 and was inaugurated by Bishop Dr. Gregorio Adam on June 9, 1956. Rafael Forni, nuncio of His Holiness Pius XII, blessed it on June 10 of the same year.
