The Bavarian state election of 1970 took place on November 22 of that year.

In Bavaria the CSU won 8.3 points and 14 seats.

The Social Democrats of the SPD lost almost 3 points and 9 seats. The second force was 23.1 points behind the first.

The liberals gained half a point and achieved parliamentary representation (10 seats).

The NPD collapsed: it went from 7% to 3% and lost all its seats (15). They also went from being the third political force to being the fourth.

For these elections, an electoral law other than the five percent clause remained in force, where a party had to obtain 10% of the votes in at least one electoral district to obtain parliamentary representation. This would be the last election. carried out under this system, since the five percent clause was introduced for the 1974 elections.
