Barbates in the Infernal dictionary Collin de Plancy.

In demonology, Barbatos is a demon who holds the titles of Count and Duke of Hell. He rules over thirty legions of demons and has four kings in his retinue to command his legions. He grants understanding of animal voices, knows the past and future, can win friends and rulers, and can lead men to hidden treasures that have been hidden by wizard spells in exchange for your soul.

According to the Book of Saint Cyprian, Barbatos is one of the three demons subservient to Satanachia, along with Pruslas and Aamon. According to other versions, Barbatos serves as an assistant to Astaroth or is under the command of Beelzebub.

Its name seems to derive from the Latin barbatus, meaning bearded or bearded. He is considered to be an ancient philosopher.
