Barbalos is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated within the region of Campo de Salamanca (Campo Charro) and the sub-region of La Huebra. It belongs to the judicial district of Salamanca.

Its municipal area is made up of the towns of Alcazarén, Barbalos, Corral de Garcíñigo, Hondura de Huebra and Moraleja de Huebra as well as the unpopulated area of Garcíñigo, it occupies a total area of 37.56 km² and according to the demographic data collected In the municipal register prepared by the INE in 2017, it has a population of 77 inhabitants.

History

Its foundation dates back to the repopulation carried out by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, the town being integrated into the archpriesthood of Valdobla in the jurisdiction of Salamanca, within the Kingdom of León. As for the districts of the municipality in medieval times there were already Hondura and Corral called then "Endura" (Hondura de Huebra) and "El Corral" (Corral de Garcíñigo), placing Honduras in the Salamanca quarter of Peña del Rey. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Barbalos was included in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.
