Balsaminaceae is a family of herbs belonging to the order Ericales.

Description

They have alternate, simple leaves, without stipules. Hermaphrodite flowers, zygomorphic, conspicuous, solitary or in clusters; calyx with 3 or rarely 5 sepals, the posterior one spurred; corolla with 5 petals normally reduced to 3 pieces by union of the lateral pairs; androecium with 5 alternipetalous stamens and connivent anthers; super gyno Fruits in loculicidal capsule. About 500 species from warm and temperate countries.
