Balbina Steffenone (Turin, Italy, 1825-Naples, 1896) was an Italian soprano.

Biography

She studied in Bologna with Teresa Bertinotti making her debut as Lucia in Macerata in 1842. After singing throughout Italy, between 1845 and 1847 she was singing at Covent Garden in London. She subsequently stayed for seven years in North America.

She sang at the US premiere of Il trovatore at the New York Academy of Music, sharing the roles of Leonora and Inés in the production.

He also participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Mexican National Anthem together with the tenor Lorenzo Salvi, on September 16, 1854.

He continued his career in Europe, appearing in Vienna in 1859 and Naples, where he retired in 1862.
