Ciudad Ayala is a Mexican town located in the state of Morelos, head of the municipality of Ayala. It is located 60 km from Cuernavaca, the state capital, and just 6 km from Cuautla, the second most important city in the state.

History

On April 11, 1934, the Congress of the State of Morelos approved the Law of Territorial Division of the State and in its article 6 it calls the municipality "Ayala" and to the municipal seat also "... To Villa de Ayala".

On November 28, 1961, Villa de Ayala became the capital of the free and sovereign state of Morelos on the 50th anniversary of the promulgation of the "Plan de Ayala".

On March 17, 1976, the Local Congress elevated the population center, Ayala, head of the municipality of the same name, to the category of city.

Main activities

The main activity is agriculture and the most important crops are: sugar cane, corn, sorghum, rice, onion, and vegetables. As for livestock, there are cattle, goats, horses and poultry.

Other important activities are commerce and tourism, which are favored by the existence of spas, popular festivals and a variety of events.
