Antalya Province
Antalya İli is one of the 81 provinces into which Turkey is divided, administered by a Governor appointed by the central government. It is located on the southwestern coast of Türkiye, in the Mediterranean Region between the Tauros Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
Antalya province is the center of the national tourism industry, attracting 30% of foreign tourists visiting the country. It is characterized by having a coastline of 657 km with beaches, ports and ancient cities scattered along it, including the Janto World Heritage Site. The provincial capital is the city of Antalya, with a population of 1,420,166 people.
Antalya is the province that has had the highest population growth in the country, with 4.17% per year between the years 1990-2000 (compared to 1.83% nationally). This growth is due to rapid urbanization, especially due to tourism and other services offered by the region.
It has an area of 20,177 km², which in terms of extension is similar to that of El Salvador or Slovenia. Its population (2020) is 2,548,308 The population density is therefore 126.30 inhabitants/km². The capital is Antalya.
