Añover de Tormes
Añover de Tormes is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated within the Tierra de Ledesma region. It belongs to the judicial district of Salamanca and to the Comarca de Ledesma Commonwealth.
Its municipal area is made up of the towns of Añover de Tormes and Palacinos, it occupies a total area of 20.24 km² and according to the demographic data collected in the municipal register prepared by the INE in 2020, it has a population of 89 inhabitants and a density of 4.40 inhab./km².
History
The foundation of Añover was carried out after the reconquest of Ledesma, Juzbado, Guadramiro or Salamanca by Ramiro II de León in the X< century< /span>. On November 18, 1609, King Philip III of Spain created the county of Añover de Tormes, with Juan Niño de Guevara as its first holder, Commander of Mohernando of the Order of Calatrava and brother of the Inquisitor General of Spain and Archbishop of Seville Fernando Child. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Añover de Tormes was framed in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.
