Anoeta is a town and municipality in Gipuzkoa located in the central part of the Tolosaldea region, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country in Spain. It is located in the middle valley of the Oria River, 20 km from the Cantabrian Sea and 24 km from the capital of the province, San Sebastián. The population has good communications (N-1 motorway and Irún-Madrid railway).

It is bordered by the municipalities of Irura, Tolosa, Hernialde, Alquiza, Asteasu, Cizúrquil and Villabona. In its municipal area is the archaeological site of Basagain, a fortified town from the Iron Age.

The main economic activity is industrial: there are modern metal construction industries, dedicated mainly to paper machinery and its accessories. With a young age pyramid given its recent urban expansion, it has the main necessary services (education, medical, banking and commercial services) and is next to important towns (only 2 km from Tolosa and 9 km from Andoáin, with shopping centers and administrative.

The municipality has a surface area of 4.14 km² and 1,997 inhabitants (2016). The Oria river separates it from the neighboring municipality of Irura.

Being a "University" independent, in 1374 he decided to join Tolosa, to later acquire the Title of Villa in 1615.

In the center of this municipality, the church of San Juan Bautista stands out, a 16th century building, with remodeling in the 17th and 18th centuries, covered with ribbed vaults. The town also has the Casa-Torre de Ateaga, a magnificent farmhouse with a coat of arms. Up to six members of this hamlet served in the Royal Household. In 1888, the Infanta Eulalia spent a period of rest in this house, during which she received a visit from Queen María Cristina.

For mountaineering excursions, we recommend the ascent to the Ernio and Uzturre mountains. In the vicinity of the town there is a carved stone cross where children were taken to learn to walk.

Their patron saint festivities are celebrated on Corpus Christi day. Those of San Juan are also celebrated on June 24.
