Nintendo's Virtual Boy console.

The Virtual Boy was the first game console sold that was capable of using VR graphics. It was created and developed by Gunpei Yokoi—the creator of the first Game Boy and the Metroid video game franchise. The Virtual Boy was released by Nintendo on July 21, 1995 in Japan and the August 14, 1995 in North America with the launch titles Mario's Tennis, Red Alarm, Teleroboxer, and Galactic Pinball. The last game released for the Virtual Boy was 3D Tetris, released on March 12, 1996. In total, 22 games were released for the console; however, only fourteen did so in North America. The most successful games released for the system, according to Nintendo Power magazine, were Virtual Boy Wario Land, Galactic Pinball, Mario's Tennis, Nester's Funky Bowling, and Red Alarm.

The Virtual Boy was an attempt to simulate virtual reality. The user looks through a viewfinder located on the front of the console, where a projector beams red and black monochrome images for the player's vision—a technique similar to those used in IMAX movies. The Virtual Boy was considered a sales flop, selling only 770,000 units before being withdrawn from the market a year after its release. Some reasons for the failure include implementing a red and black monochrome system instead of using a full color system, awkwardness to play, a price tag of $179.95 (for comparison, the Game Boy had a starting price of $179.95). for $109.95), and the public's expectation for the fifth generation of video game consoles, which included the Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, and the PlayStation. As a result, Yokoi called for his resignation from Nintendo.

The following list contains all games released for the Virtual Boy, either in Japan only, North America only, or both. The Virtual Boy was released in North America and Japan. Titles in English and Japanese, as well as release dates in both territories, are given where possible.
