The tennis tournament at the 1896 Athens Olympic Games was held on the clay courts of the Athens Tennis Club (although some matches were played on a track made temporarily at the Nuevo Fáliro Velodrome) between April 8 and 11, 1896.

In total, two different men's events were held in this sport, individual and doubles.

Although the International Olympic Committee awarded the respective gold, silver and bronze medals retrospectively, at the time these competitions were held, only the winner received a silver medal.
