Political parties with canceled registration
According to the current law on political parties, the registration of parties that allows them to participate in elections can be canceled for the following reasons:
- If during a parliamentary election it does not exceed the established electoral fence (5% valid votes at the national level).
- If during a parliamentary election it does not get the minimum number set (5) of elected congressmen in more than one electoral district.
- For not participating in a parliamentary election.
- At the request of the political party.
- For its merger with other parties.
- By decision of a judicial authority of the State.
Until December 30, 2021, the Registry of Political Organizations recognizes 50 political parties with canceled registration, including two registries corresponding to Alianza para el Progreso and Avanza País, political parties that were able to re-register:
Electoral alliances with canceled registration
According to the Political Parties Law, electoral alliances that have current registration lose their registration at the end of the general elections regardless of their electoral result. Until July 27, 2021, the Registry of Political Organizations recognizes 10 electoral alliances with canceled registration:
