Annex: Monarchs of Sweden

The following is a chronological list of the Kings of Sweden. Formerly there were several semi-independent States of which the kings are unknown; For more information see Viking kingdoms of Sweden. The list of historical kings is based on the official list provided by the Royal Court of Sweden.
Legendary Kings
The Norse sagas are the oldest sources on Swedish history, but they include various fantastic and mythological elements, such as the inclusion of the god Odin as the founder of Sweden. A particularly important work is that of Johannes Magnus (16th century), which attempts to connect the Swedish monarchy with Noah and the Genesis. This is relevant for including six kings named Eric and Charles, explaining the high royal numbers of several future kings.

History of omnibus regibus
The History of Johannes Magnus, published in 1554, tells the entire "true history" of the Swedes and Goths (both relatives according to the book) from the creation of the world until his own time, during the government of Gustavus Vasa. According to this account, Sweden was founded around the year2216 BC. C. by Magog, grandson of Noah. Johannes provides a long list of 143 Swedish kings, although most are unknown characters or contradictory to other sources. The list includes several characters from Gothic mythology and borrows some kings (at least in name) from the Norse sagas, although altering their original order.
The following is a table with just some of the kings from the book:
