Global map of countries per area.

The list of countries by area includes all the countries and territories of the world ordered by area. For uniformity criteria, data from the United Nations Statistics Division are used. Normally, the statistical services of each country carry out their own calculations, which may differ from those in the table.

The data only includes the areas under effective administration of the respective country and does not include the territorial claims involved, without prejudice to their legitimacy. Countries with very limited recognition are not part of the list, and their areas are included in that of the countries that claim them.

Although the inland waters area is included in most of the data, it has been excluded in those cases where this information significantly affects the relationship in the table.
