The Archery Field in Athens 2004

The archery at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games featured four events (two for men and two for women), played between August 15 and 21, 2004 at the Stadium Panathinaiko.

This was the 13th edition of the official tournament of this sport since its implementation as an Olympic discipline, which happened at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris. Although it is one of the oldest Olympic sports, its execution was suspended for more of 50 years, between the events of Antwerp 1920 and Munich 1972.

Archery is performed at a distance of 70 meters, with a 122 cm diameter target. Each archer has 40 seconds to shoot each arrow. 64 archers participate in this specialty, up to three per country. During qualifying, each archer shoots six groups of twelve arrows each. The score in that round is used to set the pairings for the next round. Starting with the quarterfinals, each archer shoots four groups of three arrows each.
