Galic controversy

This edition was marked by the controversy surrounding Julio Médem's feature-length documentary "La Pelota Vasca". The AVT called a demonstration at the entrance to the Palacio de Congresos for the inclusion of the documentary in the awards, since they considered that it equated the victims of the ETA attacks with the murderers of the terrorist group. For this reason, they asked for the support of the attendees, who were asked to wear a sticker with the slogan "No to ETA". With this they remembered the badges saying "No to war" that actors and directors did not hesitate to wear during the previous edition of the awards. In addition, in that demonstration you could read banners with messages such as "No to Medem" or "No to Basque Pelota: the neck against the bullet". For their part, some of the attendees closed ranks around the Basque director, and wore their own stickers that read messages such as "Médem Sí, ETA No", & #34;Yes to freedom of expression" or "No to terrorism".
