Annette Carol Bening (Topeka, Kansas, May 29, 1958) is an American actress, nominated four times for the Oscars, and winner of two Golden Globes, a Bafta Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Biography

As a child, she moved with her family to San Diego, California. There she began to be interested in acting, taking dance classes and performing some plays in her school's theater. She studied at the University of San Francisco, and paid her tuition by working as a cook on a chartered yacht.

After completing his studies, Bening performed at the San Francisco Theater Conservatory and after some time moved to New York, in order to deepen his theatrical knowledge and experience. On the New York stage she had considerable success, to the point of being nominated for a Tony Award. Despite this, Ella Bening forced herself to continue in the theater before trying to move on to film, which she did after five years.

His first film in Hollywood went virtually unnoticed and although he already stood out in the second, it was his fourth, The Grifters, that made Bening known to the general public, after having garnered favorable reviews. Since then she has taken part in numerous films, some of which were notable box office hits, such as The American President , with Michael Douglas, or American Beauty , with Kevin Spacey. Although she has risen to fame for a few years now through her marriage to Warren Beatty, her talent for playing both dramatic and comedic roles has made her a sought-after actress in the world of the big screen.

Bening was married to choreographer James Steven White from 1984 to 1991. She married actor Warren Beatty for the second time in 1992, with whom she has four children.
