Andre Makanga
André Venceslau Valentim Macanga is an Angolan footballer born in Luanda in 1978. He plays as a midfielder and his current team is Arrifanense. He is a former footballer for Real Madrid CF.
Biography
Makanga arrived in Portugal when he was young. There he has played in Portuguese teams of lower categories, until in 2000 he signed for FC Porto. He spent one season there, in which he won the Portuguese Cup and then played for several Portuguese teams.
The 2004-05 season he played in Türkiye, for Gaziantepspor.
In 2005 he signed for the Sporting Club of Kuwait. With this team he has won two Leagues.
National team
He has been international with the Angolan soccer team 35 times. His debut with the national jersey took place on November 16, 2003, in a match against the Chad national team.
He has participated in the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany, where he played two games: Angola 0-1 Portugal and Mexico 0-0 Angola.
He has also played in the African Cup of Nations on two occasions: 2006 and 2008.
Angolan fans nickname him the defensive lung of the team.
