The politics of Andorra take place within the framework of a parliamentary representative democratic country, for which the head of government of Andorra is the president, and of a multiparty system. The executive power is exerced by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.

Until 1993 Andorra was a co-principality run by two co-princes, who were the King of France, currently the President of the French Republic, and the episcopal co-prince, the Bishop of Seo de Urgell. On March 14, 1993, the first Constitution of Andorra was approved by referendum. Andorra is currently a UN member country.

Executive branch

The Andorran executive branch is made up of the head of government, who is elected by the General Council with an absolute majority (15 out of 28). The head of government chooses and removes his ministers and the number of them may vary.

The current Government of Andorra is led by Xavier Espot Zamora.
