Ana Garralón (Madrid, 1965) is a teacher, translator and literary critic, specialized in children's and youth literature.

Biography

His main contributions to the study of children's production in Spain consist of giving the weight it deserves to Latin American literature in the Spanish language (more in line with its real, numerical and qualitative importance, but also with its influence on the authors of the peninsula, an aspect little studied). Likewise, in demanding a more rigorous and profound use of the new analysis techniques of literary theory, something unusual in the study of Children's and Youth Literature, which usually uses the historical-psychological literary analysis consolidated in the middle of the century XX and originated in Taine). In addition to these aspects, Ana Garralón focuses her work on the study of informative books, highlighting her contributions in this field.

Career

He has collaborated with the press (El País, CLIJ, Platero) and coordinated the pages of the magazine Educación y Biblioteca from its beginnings until 2005. He currently collaborates with the magazine Letras Libres

Part of its activity has focused on training workshops and in this area it has collaborated with institutions such as the Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation, Banco del Libro and Fundalectura. He collaborated with the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico in the National Reading Program that was developed from 2000 to 2006.

Work

He has edited several anthologies of verse and prose (The great book of Christmas, If you see a mountain of foams and other poems: an anthology of Latin American children's poetry, Ode to the Beautiful Nude) and is also the author of a Portable History of Children's Literature (2001) and an introduction to Cervantes: Cervantes. Guide for young people(2005). Her latest book is 'Leer y Saber'. Information books for children" (2013)
