The Amstel Gold Race is a classic Dutch cycling race that takes place in Limburg (in recent years between Maastricht and Valkenburg) on the third Sunday of April and is sponsored by the brewery that gives it name.

It is the first of three Ardennes Classics, along with the Fleche Wallonne and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Its first edition was held on April 30, 1966. It was part of the World Cup since it was created in 1989 until its last edition in 2004, and since 2005 it was included in the UCI ProTour later UCI World Ranking and UCI World Tour.

Your tour consists of a large number of 'walls' (more than 30), short but hard chain climbs, where the Cauberg is the most outstanding since it was used as a finish line from 2003 to 2012. In the road cycling world championships held in Limburg in 2012, this climb was used but the The final was done 1800 meters after the crown, in the village of Berg in Treblijt. Starting in 2013, the Amstel Gold Race decided to repeat the world championship experience, finishing in the same place.

The cyclist who has won the most times is the Dutchman Jan Raas, with 5 victories.
