America's Cup 2004
The Copa América 2004 was the XLI edition of the Copa América. This version of the tournament was held in Peru, between July 6 and July 25, 2004. The soccer teams from Argentina competed (which returned after being absent in the previous edition), Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The competition was won by the Brazilian team, who beat Argentina 4-2 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in regulation time. The non-Conmebol countries that were invited to participate on this occasion were Costa Rica and Mexico. Arturo Woodman was the main person in charge of the organization.
Champion Brazil, who was also the reigning world champion, qualified for the 2005 Confederations Cup, along with runner-up Argentina.
