Always (film)
Always is a film directed by Steven Spielberg in 1989. In Latin America it was released as Siempre and in Spain is known as Always (Forever) .
Audrey Hepburn appears in a small role. It was her last film before retiring from cinema to dedicate herself to children in need, as a UNICEF ambassador.
Plot
Pete Sandich (Richard Dreyfuss) is one of the pilots at a wildland aerial fire base. He trusts his expertise and risks a lot to do his job better. He is in a loving relationship with Dorinda (Holly Hunter), a woman who works in the base's control tower. One day Pete takes too many risks and kills himself with his plane. The next scene is full of light, with Pete in a totally burned forest and in the background, on an oasis of flowering grass, the character of Audrey Hepburn, who confirms that he is dead, while she symbolically cuts his hair. Pete returns to Earth as an invisible spirit, with the mission of freeing himself from the love he feels for Dorinda so that she can continue to be happy, since since Pete passed away she has no control over his life, deeply saddened by the disappearance of she. Over time, another pilot (Brad Johnson) falls in love with Dorinda and Pete doesn't know what to do to stop it, until he comes to the conclusion that her love for Dorinda forces him to separate from her permanently, so that she can be happy.
This film is marked by a very special song, the Pete and Dorinda song: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, performed by The Platters.
