Allahu Akbar (Arabic: الله اكبر, Spanish: Alá es Grande) is an Egyptian military chant composed by Adballa Shams El-Din with lyrics by Mahmoud El-Sherif, popular with the military during the Sinai war. It functioned as the national anthem of Libya during the term of the Great Socialist Popular Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (1977-2011), a government led by Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi.
It was also the anthem of Libya during the Libyan Arab Republic (1969-1977).
