Alhándiga Fresno
Fresno Alhándiga is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated into the Tierra de Alba region and belongs to the judicial district of Salamanca. Its municipal area is made up of a single population center and has a population of 194 inhabitants (INE 2022).
History
In the year 939 the battle of Alhandega took place in the municipality of Fresno-Alhándiga, which took place between the Alhándiga river and the area today known as the Cortos ravine, between the Leonese and Muslim armies, emerging victorious troops of Ramiro II de León. Likewise, medieval documentation includes the foundation and fortification by this Leonese king of the place of Alhandega, Fresno not appearing with said name included in the documentation until the XIV, responding to the repopulation of the then depopulated Alhandega, remaining framed in the Land of Alba de Tormes in the Cuarto de Allende el Río, which was already the territory of the term belonged since its reconquest in the X century by the troops of the Kingdom of León. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Fresno-Alhándiga was integrated or in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region.

Symbols
On November 28, 2022, the Town Hall Plenary in an extraordinary session approved the municipal coat of arms and flag, as well as the supporting report. After following all the legal procedures, both symbols were published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León on February 9, 2023. The description of the shield is:
Shield left and tied to tip: 1st, in the field of gules, a golden castle cleared of gules. 2nd, in the field of silver, a tree ripped to the natural. Silver and sugar waves. To the bell, royal crown closed.
For its part, the description of the flag is:
Rectangular flag, proportion 2:3, barracks of red and white. To the center, the municipal shield in its colors.
