Alfonso Herrera (actor)
Alfonso Herrera Rodríguez (Mexico City, August 28, 1983) is a Mexican actor.
He began his career in the film Amar te duele (2002), followed by the telenovela Clase 406 that delved into social issues, up to Rebelde (2004) who achieved international fame, also forming part of the RBD group.
In 2009, with the termination of the group, he announced his retirement from the world of music to dedicate himself to acting. After having the leading role in the telenovela Camaleones (2009), he resumed his career as a film actor participating in films such as Venezzia (2009) and Así es la luck (2011).
He participated in television series, such as El equipo (2011), El Diez (2011) and Sense8 (2015), as well as as well as plays as diverse as Rain Man (2010) and Swimming with Sharks (2012).
Biography
2002-2008: Artistic beginnings, Loving hurts you and RBD
Alfonso Herrera was born on August 28, 1983 in Mexico City. He spent his childhood divided between Mexico, D.F. and the city of Guadalajara He began his career in the theater with works such as & # 34; Las brujas de Salem & # 34;, & # 34; How to kill a mockingbird & # 34; and "Antigone". In 2002 he made his first participation in the Mexican film Amar te duele by director Fernando Sariñana. In 2004, Alfonso worked again with the producer, this time for the Mexican telenovela Rebelde, in which he gave life to the character of Miguel Arango. That same year, he joined the band RBD, also made up of Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Christopher Uckermann and Christian Chávez, his telenovela companions. In November 2004, RBD released their debut album titled Rebelde, the album obtained diamond and gold record recognition in Mexico for selling more than half a million copies. With RBD, Alfonso released seven studio albums, three live albums and seven DVDs, the group achieved multiple albums of platinum, gold and diamond, toured the vast majority of places in the world, which meant one of the most important popular events in Mexican music in recent decades. He visited more than 23 countries, sang in 116 cities, sold more than 57,000,000 of his musical productions, 17,000,000 digital downloads, four million DVDs and sold more than two million concert tickets along with more than 20,000 000 merchandise items.
In 2007, the actor began recording the Mexican series RBD: la familia, which fictionally narrates the lives of the band members. In November 2007, Alfonso began filming the romantic comedy Volverter a ver , by director Gustavo Garzón, creator of Cansada de besar sapos. The film premiered on December 25, 2008 in theaters. In March 2008, he returned to his beginnings by joining the cast of the staging Pillow Man, with a small role so as not to interfere with RBD's performances. In September 2008 He starred in the first season of the series Terminals with the actress Ana Claudia Talancón.

2009-2012: Venezzia, Chameleons, The Ten and The Lorax
In April 2009, Alfonso worked in the second season of the telenovela Mujeres asesinas playing the role of Esteban in the episode Soledad, cautiva. On July 27, 2009, he received a leading role in Rosy Ocampo's telenovela, Camaleones, where he played Sebastián Jaramillo and in which he shared credits with the Mexican singer Belinda.
In September 2009, he lent his voice to the main character of the film Igor, directed by Tony Leondis. In April 2010, he participated in the special soccer game between celebrities and former members of the United States national team for MTV called Rock N' Goal. On November 19, 2010, the play Rain man was released, inspired by the 1988 film, Rain Man. Alfonso played the character of Charlie Babbitt. 2015-present: Sense8, Minions and the Dandy
On April 27, 2015, the second season of the program The Science of the Absurdity premiered on NatGeo hosted by Herrera.
On June 5, 2015, the series Sense8, directed by the Wachowski sisters, premiered, in which Alfonso plays Hernando, partner of the character Lito Rodríguez, played by Miguel Ángel Silvestre.

On October 26, 2015, the series El Dandy premiered, where Herrera played José Montaño, an undercover police officer who calls himself Daniel "el Dandy" Bracho, who joins a drug gang that operates in the capital's Zona Rosa. The series has 70 episodes broadcast on TNT Series.
In 2016 he acted in the FX television series, The Exorcist, giving life to the character of a priest named Tomás Ortega. That same year he played the leading role in The Chosen One , a film by Antonio Chavarrías about the assassination of León Trotsky by Ramón Mercader.
On November 1, 2020, the film El baile de los 41 premiered as the closing event of the Morelia International Film Festival. In the film, Alfonso Herrera gives life to the character of Ignacio de la Torre, the son-in-law of Porfirio Díaz, who was arrested and later released for attending a transvestite party in 1901. Humanitarian activities
Alfonso Herrera has worked in various awareness campaigns and humanitarian work, in July 2012 he became ambassador of the Fundación Non Violence, created by Yoko Ono, to help eradicate violence and bring a message of peace. In October 2012, he became a spokesperson for the Toxic Tours campaign, created by the Greenpeace organization, the main reason was to denounce the contamination of bodies of water in Mexico.
Herrera became the image of Running Day, which began on February 10, 2013, it was the first clinic developed in Mexico to share with runners the techniques, tips, methods training and nutrition, which help athletes in their development. In March 2013, the actor became the spokesperson for the campaign Va por mi cuenta, the main objective of which is to ensure that athletes children in vulnerable situations in Mexico have access to a comprehensive and balanced diet.
In response to Herrera's keen interest and dedication to the issue, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) named him a Goodwill Ambassador on September 23, 2020.
