Alex Lora
José Alejandro Lora Serna (Puebla de Zaragoza, December 2, 1952), better known as Álex Lora, is a Mexican singer-songwriter and musician. He is known for being the vocalist of the rock and blues band El Tri.
Early years
Álex Lora is the son of Eloísa Serna. At the end of 1968 he formed, together with Carlos Hauptvogel and Guillermo Berea, a group called Three Souls in My Mind in which they performed songs in English of his own, which was common for considering it the "rock language". During this time they recorded two albums. In 1971 the band participated in the Avándaro Rock and Wheels Festival.
Towards 1973, the group took the initiative to record an album with unpublished songs, where colloquial language predominated and the themes were a demanding cry for freedom in various senses from the youth of the time towards their parents or the government. in turn, which resulted in excellent communication between the group and the public. This gave way to other Mexican bands to imitate them.
Due to how irreverent the lyrics of their songs were, this and other groups with the same tendencies were not allowed to appear in the mass media, but their recordings and live performances—especially in the well-known funkie holes—yes, they were very well accepted. He is known for the phrase: "Que Viva El Rock and Roll!".
Formation of El Tri
However, Carlos Hauptvogel decided to separate from the band in 1984, but kept the rights to the name. This motivated Lora to form another band, which he baptized as & # 34; El Tri & # 34; of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the abbreviation by which the previous group was known.
He celebrated his thirty years of artistic career at the National Auditorium, accompanied by the FM Symphony and other musicians who had accompanied him in his career such as Lalo Toral, Zbigniew Paleta and Felipa Souza. In September 2005, before hundreds of Mexicans, he unveiled a statue with his image in the city of Los Angeles. Also in 2008, Álex Lora and El Tri celebrated their fortieth anniversary of their musical career. In 2018 he celebrated his 50th anniversary with a concert at the Sports Palace that lasted 6 hours and was sold out. He is currently one of the longest-lived music icons in Mexico.
