Aldeaseca de Alba is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated into the region of Tierra de Alba. It belongs to the Salamanca judicial district and to the Rutas de Alba and Tierras del Tormes commonwealth.

Its municipal area is made up of a single population center, it occupies a total area of 17.58 km² and according to the demographic data collected in the municipal register prepared by the INE in 2017, it has a population of 77 inhabitants.

Geography

It's not very rugged; The terrain of the municipality is completely flat, with hills and hills scattered throughout the area. To the southeast of the municipality; the hill of San Juan rises, with a height of 904 m; maximum height of the municipality. It forms a soil of old rocks that have been compacted; dating from the Tertiary and the Quaternary, predominantly clay, quartz and feldgrass as the most common minerals; being the result of that compaction.

The climate is continental Mediterranean; in which it usually rains at times, with cold winters and very mild summers.

It limits to the north with Garcihernández, to the east with Turra de Alba, to the south with Navales and to the west with Alba de Tormes.

History

Its foundation dates back to the repopulation carried out by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, being integrated into the quarter of Cantalberque of the jurisdiction of Alba de Tormes, within the Kingdom of León, already being called Aldeaseca in the century XIII. This denomination is quite common in the Salamanca area, also finding Aldeaseca de Armuña or Aldeaseca de la Frontera. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Aldeaseca de Alba was framed in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region, forming part of the judicial district of Alba de Tormes until its disappearance and its integration into that of Salamanca.

Culture

Parties

The town festivities are in honor of San Andrés on November 30. It is commemorated with the procession through the streets of the municipality and the typical meal that takes place in the hall located under the town hall. In August there are festivities for the entertainment of the town with a fraternization dinner, a bingo with gifts and an orchestra

February 2; the festivities of San Blas are celebrated, being of the second category. In the village church; during these festivities, the throats are usually blessed.

Economy

People rely only on the cultivation of cereals and fodder; and in the care of cows, pigs and sheep.

Monuments and places of interest

  • The Church of Saint Andrew was built in the centuryXVI about a previous Romanesque-dejar temple. It stands out on the outside its great headboard, being finished the temple by a swordsman. In its interior stands out the altarpiece, of the Rococo style.

Illustrious people

  • Amadora Gómez Alonso, known as Mother Lover, a religious born in 1907 in this town, was the founder of the Celers of the Queen of the Heart of Jesus, died in 1976 in Valladolid.
