Etymology
The name "Coca" it alludes to the place of origin of the colonists who created and gave their name to this settlement.[citation required] We are witnessing a phenomenon of repopulation toponymy, Segovian in this case. Various authors include it within the group of Segovian-Abulense place names.
History
Its foundation dates back to the repopulation carried out by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, being integrated into the Rialmar quarter of the jurisdiction of Alba de Tormes, within the Kingdom of León. Due to its proximity to the border between the kingdoms of León and Castilla, in the year 1196 Coca was one of the towns in Tierra de Alba that was attacked and sacked by Castilian troops. With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, Coca de Alba was included in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region, forming part of the judicial district of Alba de Tormes until its disappearance and its integration into that of Salamanca.
