Air General
Air General is an Air Force military job. It is usually the highest grade of the ladder, generally occupying the headquarters of the Air Force.
In Spain
Military employment immediately superior to that of Lieutenant General of the Air Force, which is granted to the general officer who is appointed Chief of Staff of the Spanish Air Force (JEMA) or Chief of Defense Staff (JEMAD). Its equivalents are the job of General of the Army of the Spanish Army and the job of General Admiral in the Spanish Navy.
The use of air general is relatively new within the Spanish military; It was incorporated to match the military scales of the rest of the NATO countries, which have five jobs in the generalate and is equivalent to the rank of general of the United States of America.
The job of air general is held by the chief of the Air Staff (JEMA); employment is granted on a permanent basis. In addition, the Chief of the Defense Staff ( JEMAD ) will be an Army General, Admiral General or Air General depending on the branch to which he belongs.
His insignia are a crossed staff and saber under a crown (indicating generalship) with four four-pointed stars or luceros placed in the spaces between the sabers (indicating the general's employment).
In Chile
In Chile, Air General is the highest rank that an officer in the air rank can reach, and it is only held by the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Air Force. Appointed by the President of the Republic among the five oldest of the institution for a period of four years, and may be removed by presidential decree if the President deems it appropriate. Currently, he is equivalent to that of Army General.
The rank of Air General was created with the same Chilean Air Force in 1930, being from its origins the highest rank of Chilean military aviation, initially equated to the rank of Division General, and its first winner will be the then Air Commodore Diego Aracena Aguilar, who was promoted to this grade on January 23, 1935. However, in 1960, the rank of Air General was replaced by that of Aviation General, leaving the title of Air General as the name held by that Air Force General. In Colombia
In Colombia, Air General is the highest grade that Air Force officers can reach, it is immediately higher than Air Lieutenant General, also a newly created grade. In Peru
In Peru it is the ninth degree of the officer hierarchy in the Peruvian Air Force. This position is granted to the Commanding General of the Air Force and to the Minister of Defense (in case he is an active general officer). This rank is also awarded to the general who is the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of Peru; For this reason, it is the highest military, naval and air authority within the country, being solely under the jurisdiction of the President of the Republic and the Minister of Defense.
