Air Botswana
Air Botswana is the national airline of the Republic of Botswana. This airline operates only in southern Africa; practically all its flights are internal, serving routes from the cities of Gaborone and Maun to the various regions of the country. It also operates flights to neighboring countries South Africa and Zimbabwe. The company was founded in April 1972 with the support of the Botswana government.
History
The airline was created and began operations in April 1972. It was created to succeed Botswana Airways, which had replaced Botswana National Airways in 1969. It was nationalized by the government in April 1988 and again privatized. It is expected that a frequent flyer program will be introduced by the end of 2005 and an electronic booking and purchasing system in 2006.
