Agüera (in Asturian and officially Augüera) is a village and parish in the Asturian council of Belmonte de Miranda, in Spain.

The name of the town comes from the Asturian agüeru, which means puddle, irrigation canal. By extension, it is applied to the valley where streams meet.

Situation

The village of Agüera is about 10 kilometers from Belmonte. It is located on the left bank of the Pigüeña River, 340 meters above sea level and is accessed via the AS-227 highway.

Population

The parish has an area of 29.3 km², in which a total of 77 people live distributed among the towns of Abedul (La Bedul), Agüera (Augüera), Agüerina (Augüeirina), La Arena (L&# 39;Arena), Los Bazales, La Casa Blanca, La Casa el Sol (La Casa'l Sol), Castañera, Cigüedres, La Ferreiría, Pumadín, Quintanal, Rozos, San Esteban (Saisteban) and Villar de Zuepos (Viḷḷare).

Monuments

The parish church is from the 18th century, with a T shaped plan and is Dedicated to Saint Andrew.

Festivities

The main festival of the town is the festival of San Fructuoso, on August 22.
