Agroforestry engineering is a branch of agricultural sciences that deals with knowledge of natural resources and agroecosystems, especially the relationships established when trees, crops and animals-pastures are combined in the same land unit maintaining the principles of sustainability, productivity and adaptability.

It is also considered as the land use system where animal, forestry and livestock components interact, the combination of these can be sequential or simultaneous so that the use of the components is in time (medium, short and long term) and space (land).
