Agricultural Road (station)
Camino Agrícola is a railway station that is part of the Santiago de Chile Metro network. It is located by viaduct between the Carlos Valdovinos and San Joaquín stations on line 5. The station is located on Vicuña Mackenna Avenue, between the communes of San Joaquín and Macul.
During October 18, 2019, and within the framework of the protests developed by the increase in the subway fare, acts of massive evasion occurred at the station, where some of its validators for the bip! They were destroyed. In turn, part of its perimeter closure was used as a barricade. For this reason, the station was out of service between October 19 and the 28th of the same month.
Features and environment
It boasts a flow of passengers that has been gradually increasing, due to the inauguration of the Santiago South Headquarters of Inacap. On Avenida Vicuña Mackenna, it runs parallel under the viaduct and does not have a pedestrian crossing that brings people closer to one of the sidewalks. Furthermore, the area where the station is located is a transition sector from industrial to residential, and the tributary is very little.
In the immediate surroundings of the station, there is the Santiago Sur Headquarters of Inacap, which was inaugurated at the beginning of 2007, the headquarters of the Savory ice cream maker, the sports field of the University of Las Américas and since the beginning of the 2009, the Santiago San Joaquín Campus of the Federico Santa María Technical University, located on the land previously occupied by the defunct Otto Kraus toy store.
Since February 27, 2023, during the Express Operation schedule, the Camino Agrícola station went from being a Green Route to a Red Route.
