Agnes of God (Agnes of God) is a 1985 American film whose screenplay is by John Pielmeier and is based on his work play of the same name, written in 1979 and premiered on Broadway in 1982.

In Spain, the play has been represented on stage with Cristina Higueras and Fiorella Faltoyano in the leading roles.

In Mexico it was represented on stage in 1985 with Marga López, María Teresa Rivas and Blanca Guerra in the main roles.

The film, which was directed by Norman Jewison and starred Jane Fonda, Anne Bancroft, Meg Tilly, Anne Pitoniak, Winston Rekert and Gratien Gélinas, garnered three Oscar nominations: Best Leading Actress (Anne Bancroft), Best Supporting Actress (Meg Tilly) and Best Music.

Plot

At a Catholic convent near Montreal, Sister Agnes (Meg Tilly) is born, who claims she was visited by God and then became pregnant, and the child dies.

Psychiatrist Livingston (Jane Fonda) goes to the convent to learn more about the facts and help the nun. At the same time, she will know other strange aspects of life within that convent.
