Adolf Lu Hitler Mark
Adolf Lu Hitler R. Marak (c. 1958) is an Indian politician, a native of the state of Meghalaya. He is a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), for which he held a state congress seat until February 2003. He was Environment Minister under E.K. Mawlong, and Cooperation Minister under F.A. Khonglam.
Biography
He was arrested on June 27, 2003, on charges of having ties to the outlawed militant group Achik National Volunteers' Council He was released on bail after about a month. The following year he lost the Garo Hills district council election for Dengnak department to G.D.C. against Congressional Roster Sangma, he lost the 2003 election by just 300 votes to Zenith Sangma, however he won the 2008 election.
Name
It may be noted that his name is not particularly strange within Meghalaya, where other politicians are called Lenin R. Marak, Stalin L. Nangmin, Frankenstein W. Momin, or Tony Curtis Lyngdoh. Marak told the Hindustan Times: "Maybe my parents liked the name, so they called me Hitler. I'm happy with my name, although I don't have any dictatorial tendencies."
