A Western Harvest Field by Moonlight

A Western Harvest Field by Moonlight —in Spanish: A western harvest field in the light of the moon— is the first EP by American musician Beck, released in 1994 through Fingerpaint Records, and featured production by Beck Hansen and Tom Grimley. The song "Totally Confused" It features the band that dog., who would later contribute to two other Beck songs, "Girl of My Dreams" and "Steve Threw Up".

Recording and release

3,000 copies were originally pressed in 1994 and there have been several reprints since then: 2,000 in 1995, 1,000 in 1997, and another 1,000 in 1998. The first pressings contained finger paintings by Beck and friends that were done at the record company during the record release party and were packaged with the “Original Figerpainting Enclosed” sticker. The following prints did not contain any painting.

The album has “Sexy Death Soda” scratched on the A side, and “Cherry Cupcake” on the B. First impressions came out with “Styrofoam Chicken (Quality Time)” being one continuous track. It was set deeper into the vinyl record so when the pick read the song it would jump back to the beginning of the song. The pressings of this album had "A Western Harvest Moon by Moonlight" written on the spine of the disc. A curiosity is that if you hold the disc in front of a mirror you can read under the image of the little girl the phrase "Happiness grows in your own back yard" ("Happiness grows in your own backyard").
