The year 85 (LXXXV) was a common year beginning on a Saturday of the Julian calendar, in force on that date.

In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the Consulate of Augustus and Titus Aurelio Fulvo (or less frequently, year 838 Ab urbe condita). The designation 85 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini became the prevalent European method of naming years.
