(8308) Julie-Mélissa is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered by Eric Walter Elst on April 17, 1996 from the La Silla Observatory, Chile.

Designation and name

Julie-Mélissa was initially designated as 1996 HD13. Later, in 1998, it was named after Belgian girls Julie Lejeune and Mélissa Russo, as a symbol of the suffering of abused children.

Orbital characteristics

Julie-Mélissa is located at an average distance from the Sun of 2,304 AU, being able to get as close as 1,919 AU and as far as 2.69 AU. Its orbital inclination is 2.67 degrees and eccentricity 0.1673. It takes 1,278 days to complete one orbit around the Sun. The movement of Julie-Mélissa on the stellar background is 0.2818 degrees per day.
