(8) Flora is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered on October 18, 1847 by John Russell Hind from the George Bishop Observatory in London, United Kingdom. It is named for Flora, a goddess from Roman mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Flora is located at an average distance of 2,202 ua from the Sun, being able to approach up to 1,858 ua and move away up to 2,546 ua. Its eccentricity is 0.1563 and the orbital inclination is 5.888°. It takes 1,193 days to complete an orbit around the Sun and gives its name to the Flora asteroidal family.
