(57) Mnemosyne is an asteroid that is part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by Karl Theodor Robert Luther from the Düsseldorf-Bilk observatory, Germany, on September 22, 1859. It is named after Mnemosyne, a character from Greek mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Mnemosyne orbits at an average distance of 3,152 AU from the Sun, and can get as close as 2,791 AU. It has an orbital inclination of 15.21° and an eccentricity of 0.1145. It takes 2044 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
