(55) Pandora is an asteroid that forms part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by George Mary Searle on September 10, 1858 from the Dudley Observatory in Albany, United States. It is named after Pandora, a goddess from Greek mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Pandora orbits at an average distance from the Sun of 2.76 ua, being able to move away up to 3,152 ua and approach up to 2,367 ua. It has an eccentricity of 0.1423 and an orbital inclination of 7.186°. It takes 1675 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
