Kalpanachawla. Asteroid no. 51826 (2001 OB34), discovered by Eleanor F. Helin on July 19, 2001 from Mount Palomar (California) within the NEAT program (Near-Earth Asteroid tracking Program).-

Named for Kalpana Chawla, mission specialist on the space shuttle Columbia, which disintegrated upon reentry into Earth's atmosphere on February 1, 2003.-
