Contenido The year 44 (XLIV) was a leap year beginning on Wednesday of the Julian calendar, in force on that date.
In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the Consulate of Crispus and Taurus (or less frequently, year 797 Ab urbe condita). The designation 44 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini became the prevalent European method of naming years.
