(3992) Wagner is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered on September 29, 1987 by Freimut Börngen from the Karl Schwarzschild Observatory in Tautenburg, Germany.

Designation and name

Wagner was initially designated as 1987 SA7. Later, in 1989, it was named in honor of the German composer Richard Wagner (1813-1883).

Orbital characteristics

Wagner orbits at an average distance of 3,017 ua from the Sun, being able to move away up to 3,262 ua and approach up to 2,772 ua. She has an eccentricity of 0.08119 and an orbital inclination of 10.42 degrees. It takes 1914 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
